MR ANDRE DOUCHANE
Chief Executive Officer
Mr Douchane joined BBX on 21 October 2019. Mr Douchane is a highly experienced mining executive with extensive experience over 40 years in North and South America, including COO, CEO and Chairman roles with a number of mid-tier and junior mining companies including Round Mountain, Battle Mountain Gold, Franco-Nevada, North American Palladium and Starfield Resources. In addition to Mr. Douchane’s executive experience, as a mining engineer he has deep technical expertise in many aspects of the extraction business including exploration and ore body development, feasibility and full engineering studies, mine and process plant construction and on-site operations management.
mr michael leon schmulian
Non-Executive Director – Chairman
Mr. Schmulian has been a Director of BBX since 12 April 2011. Mr Schmulian is a geologist with over 40 years mining and exploration experience, and is a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AuslMM). His experience includes 26 years in Brasil where he has established a strong network of contacts throughout the industry. Mr. Schmulian is the former Brazil Country Manager for Western Mining Corporation charged with the implementation and operation of two gold mines. He was also previously South American Brownfields Exploration Manager for AngloGold Ashanti, an executive director of ASX listed Mundo Minerals Limited, and COO of ASX listed Crusader Resources. He was responsible for establishing Mundo in Brasil and Peru and bringing the company’s Engenho Gold Mine into production.
Mr Jeff MCKenzie
Mr Mckenzie was appointed CEO in March 2015 and step down from the role in October 2019. Mr McKenzie is a former Banker with ANZ Banking Group for 33 years’ including roles New Zealand, Indonesia and China as General Manager Beijing Branch and Regional Head North Asia Commodity and International Trade. Mr McKenzie was Chief Executive of PISG Group Beijing the largest private iron ore importer into China and owner of a 4mio ton steel mill where he initiated a USD2.5bio bid for Hong Kong listed China Oriental Group. Mr Mckenzie has considerable commodity and financial experience in South America, including undertaking a JV with Vale to build a 5mio ton pellet plant in China. Mr McKenzie also negotiated long term supply contracts with Vale and CMP (Chile).
Mr Will Dix
Mr Dix is a geologist with 18 years, experience in gold, base metal, uranium exploration and mining. He holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science (Geology) from Monash University and is a member of AusIMM. In previous roles he has led successful exploration teams that were responsible for significantly growing gold and base metal resources at various companies, including Lionore Mining International. Mr Dix has a proven track record of successful project and team management and also has extensive experience in commercial activities including capital raisings, mergers, acquisitions and divestments. Mr Dix is currently the managing director of ASX listed Consolidated Zinc Limited.
MR ANTONIO DE CASTRO
Mr De Castro is a Brazilian geologist with over 34 years of exploration and mining experience for gold, copper, nickel, iron and phosphate in Brazil and Australia. He worked as a Senior Mine and Exploration Geologist for WMC for over 19 years both in Brazil and Australia. More recently he has consulted for several junior mining companies include Polo Resources – Minfer Brazil, Brazilian Gold Corporation and Copper Range Company. Mr. Castro received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Federal do Rio de Janeiro, is a registered geologist with CREA-RJ, the Conselho Regional de Engenharia e Agronomia do Rio de Janeiro, and a member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.
